more film in same size magazine. a big deal in high speed shoots.

some systems are not bothered by the halo effect. depends on how its engineered.

OK, finally I'll take the opportunity to post a question I've always
asked myself: "*WHY* does HIE have no anti-halation layer?"

The resulting halos around highlights are beautiful for fine-art
photography.  But given that HIE (and HSI) were mainly developed (and
used) for scientific applications, I would assume that this effect is
quite disturbing there.

Any explanations?
