I don't think it has to do with the thin ESTAR-AH base because there
are other films using it too, having an anti-halation layer (e.g.
Technical Pan 2415).
To add to my original question: For Technical Pan Kodak states that
"The 0.1 neutral density built into the ESTAR-AH Base is one-half to
one-third that found in conventional 35 mm picture-taking films."
So, is the anti-halation layer just neutral densitiy added to the base
(this would explain how it reduces the 'light-pipe effect') or is it an
additional layer?
