Stan,
Thank you for the clarification.
I received a letter from Kodak on or around November 19th 1999 some weeks
after asking Kodak UK for a written statement about the future of HSI. The
letter clearly stated that HSI 4x5 is discontinued and I reported this to
the list.
Kodak did apologise for the delay in sending the letter as my question was
referred to the USA headquarters of Kodak where presumably the film is
manufactured.
Pro. film retailers in the UK will also now tell you that the film has been
discontinued. Has anyone tried to order HSI 4x5 recently in the USA? When
remaining stocks are gone then there will be no more HSI 4x5.
The fact that Kodak are testing HIE in 4x5 is promising, however if you ask
Kodak they will cut up any size for you - for a price and minimum quantity.
The potential handling problems of such a thin film base in 4x5 have been
aired on the list in the past.
So, the bottom line is that maybe Dick Johnson didn't know at the time you
spoke to him what the Kodak corporate plans were regarding HSI. Perhaps you
could ask Dick for something in writing - this would probably give you a
similar corporate statement to the one I received.
All the best,
