There is information on the new MACO film in the Infrared FAQ (URL in sig.
file).

Some people reported that the metal tin should be opened in a darkroom or
changing bag to avoid fogging. This is probably the safest route, however
the range of sensitivity to infrared light is not so extensive as HIE, so
the MACO film is probably a little more tolerant of imperfect loading
conditions.

There were reports of fogging on the first few frames of the 35mm film. I
called the head of MACO and asked him about the problem - this fogging was
found to be a manufacturing fault in only a few rolls from the many
thousands of test rolls produced.

The 35mm film available in the tins is a pre-production test run which is
why it is sold at half the normal price.

The first manufacturing run of the film will take place in February.
Packaging has been designed and the film will be available in February 2000
in 35mm, 120, and 4x5.
