Re: Kodak shutting down the production of HIE?

If such a move is being contemplated by Kodak, as rumored in another
poster's e-mail, I would bet it is predicated on the erosion of commercial
sales of the emulsion in the face of digital IR imaging...

If they kill off this film I will stop using all KODAK products.. Plain and
Simple... And I will vociferously pronounce in every forum possible that
Kodak is no longer a photographic company, but instead a digital imaging
company with a photographic product line doomed to extinction...

If Kodak is only going to support commercial users at the expense of art,
then might I suggest they drop film entirely and engage in a singular
pursuit of digital options..   Then they would not be wasting their
precious R&D money on items with limited future timeline applicability...

Oh yeah, and the marketing by Kodak of film as inherently ahead of digital
options in terms of image quality ought to be dropped by them if they
choose this course..  It smacks of simple duplicity to pledge support for
film and then move away from a product as soon as digital options cut out a
significant portion of the base sales...
