Advice for a Newbie?

Howdy folks,

I bought my first rolls of HIE and EIR a few weeks ago and have been
waiting for the weather to clear(not to mention my schedule)to head out to
the mountains and try them out. My passion has always been landscapes
including clouds and water and from the research I have done, believe these
films will render some pleasing images. However, between the books from the
library, various web sites, and some fellow CONTAX mailing list buddies, I
am unsure about exposure ratings with my filters of choice. Based on a test
strip at my local pro shop I have chosen a #8 light yellow for my desired
color balance with the EIR. Can any of you give me advice based on your
experience with this filter. For the Black and White I have the #25 red,
which is all I have right now. Any thoughts on rating?
I am thawing out the film right now and plan to head out shortly. I have
been trapped in a dark studio in front of several computers and tv monitors
for 13 days straight!

Also: I have a CONTAX 137MA which has a dimpled back plate and a small red
LED that lives below the frame and exists only to transmit to the data-back
which I do not own. The manual for the camera seems aware of the potential
use of IR film and even contains a section on the IR focussing mark on the
Zeiss lenses. Is it safe for me to assume the little led will not cause
problems. As for the dimpled back plate. What if anything should I do about
that. Is it just a concern with the back and white?

I thank you all for your patience.

David
