Difficult to say - especially because I haven't really understood if the
LED is inside your camera or somewhere outside (maybe my stupidity...)
EIR usually isn't as critical as HIE - maybe it would be best to shoot a
test roll an see what happens. 

As for the dimpled back plate. What if anything should I do about

It's almost certainly only the BW film that might cause problems. Again,
I would recommend some tests. BTW, before shooting your first "serious"
pics on HIE you should do some test exposures anyway.  To use it
succesfully, you have to get at least some idea of how the film reacts
in general... If the dimples definitely are a problem, you can simply
tape some paper or foil over the backplate. I've read a lot of
suggestions as to what material you shuld use (personally I prefer black
self-adhesive plastic foil). If you need more thorough information on
this, just search the archive

"dimpled backplate" or the like...
