87C or 25A

All this talk about the 87C filter has me interested.  For those who have used the 87C and the red 25A, is there a noticeable IR difference between the two?  While I've been satisfied with my 25A/Kodak 35mm HIE/x-tol 1:1 combo, if the 87C will give me even stronger IR effects, I'll spend the money and buy the filter.  And don't worry about viewing or focusing.  My IR camera is an old Canon L-1 rangefinder and associated Leica/Canon screwmount lenses and I'll be using a Gossen hand held meter.  Opinions?
