Jim, my experience has shown a real difference between 87c and
25. However, a lot depends on circumstances. I have some
Konica 750 negatives which look more like HIE. The rangefinder
approach is great for 87c, but I would suggest beg, borrow or buy a
piece of wratten 87c and use it with your Gossen hand held meter,
ala Andrew Davidhazy's suggestion. It works great for me. I use it
at iso 3200 or 6400 and D-76 by the book.
