There is a commercially available solution for this type of photography
which consists of a counterweighted pole and long electrical cable for
electronic shutter release.

Have seen photos of the setup and it looks workable.  Have no idea of the
manufacturer or current availability but maybe a quick web search will turn
something up for you.
