He was only using ordinary colour film, and focusing, well at 20ft up in 
the air what's focusing.  Most lenses set at their hyperfocal point should 
be ok, unless you're putting a long lens on which is unlikely.  The IR 
remote wouldn't interfere as it's just a receiver on the outside of the 
camera and the transmitter wouldn't be in the shot (unless you include 
yourself in it),and at worst it might look like a small penlight in your hand?
