That's a good point Jason.  I am guessing that you do most of your 4x5 work
in the studio or equivalent settings (eg gallery). When outside in the wild
world, there is more likelyhood of light leaks from the darkslide end of
the holders in my experience. This is why I recommended leaving the tip of
the darkslide in the holder.

This can get a little too interesting if the wind picks up as the darkslide
starts acting as a sail.  Apart from the camera movement problems if the
darkslide stays put, there is also the danger of the darkslide falling out.
When you've set up next to a sheer drop of over a 1000 feet or so then it's
not just the possibility of dust on the darkslide that you have to think
about :-)  This happened to me at Schaefer Point, Canyonlands, Utah in
gusty wind.

After watching a couple of small accessories get blown over the drop about
two feet in front of me I changed to a roll film back. Will post the snap
shot of the camera set up at Schaefer Point in the travelogue on
http://www.f32.net when I get a spare moment.
