ASA 640 for HIE

Hi,

My feedback may be a little bid late, but I also set ASA to 640 and meter
thru the filter. I use 25, 29, 87C and 89B. I taped out the internal
lightning white place on my Nikon to quit any light to come other than the
lens. I also close down the viewer when taking a shot. I bracket +/- 1
stops. I usually get the best in the middle with 10 min at 20 degrees and
straight D76. I do these with Nikon N90s, N70 and FA. It is true that in
summer ı may get overexpose. The overexpose tends to happen when to many
infrared reflecting objects be together such as a road having too much tree
at the sides. It can happen in subdued light also. At such case I tend to
bracket +2 also. I like a little bit granier look. I make my D76 myself. I
do it in 1/2 liter sessions. I save the solution for 5-7 times or 2 months
which comes earlier. For each development, I increase the development by 5%.

My problem is the white spots. I do my best to do everything which includes
sending samples to Kodak. I believe that these white spots I am getting is
due to fault in manifacturing. Some friend said in the list that these spots
tend to be less when the solution prepared using pure water. That may be
correct, but I can not get consistent results. What I expect and pray is
that 150ft bult is nearly finished. I pray God the next bulk be spotless. I
did not faced these spots when I bought 135-36 HIE. What I plan is to print
these spotted pictures, scan it, remove the spts digitally and then print
again. As Murphy says, always the best shot is the one having the most spots
on the most unwanted places.

I wish this is helpful.

Regards,

Ibrahim
