Keith,
You are certainly not going to upset your septic tank or the environment
by processing film at amateur usage levels, although large amounts of
printing might be more of a problem. Beyond the practical
considerations, you could store your spent chemicals and wash water -
use a water change rather than continuous flow strategy - and dispose of
them when convenient.
