This is the normal advice you will get from photographers (and I'm not
saying it's wrong) but there is another way of looking at this which
shouldn't be overlooked.
1: You are increasing the development because your previous development did
not produce a maximum density on the neg (low contrast)
2: Increasing the processing will increase the contrast and can have an
effect on the apparent film speed so people tell you to change your ISO
BUT, it also increases the amount of shadow detail you get, so until you
actually get a maximum density on your negative you can enjoy the benefits
of extra shadow detail. It actually gets a little more complicated than
that due to density/grain effects towards the lighter tones but I'd suggest
just increase you processing first and then see whether you need to adjust
your exposure..
