I purchased a Nikon CP950 for just this reason. Supposedly, the CP990 is not as
sensitive to 
IR. 

Nikon also has a $150 rebate on the  CP950 right now. 

Biggest drag to the CP950 is the serial connection. I bought a USB reader that
overcomes 
that little problem.
