Jon, a few words on the filter and temperature.
Common office tape/scotch tape will do just fine to attach the filter
The gelatin filter mounted BTFR will work for a while but my
experience was for only about three rolls of film then it cracks.
You are better off finding a polyester filter now. In the long run it will
be cheaper than trying to use gelatin.
I can appreciate your problem maintaining temperature. At one
time I had three teen age daughters drawing on our hot water
supply. I usually just set out several containers of water the night
before so that everything is at the same temperature, usually
around 72F. This also get rid of the chlorine in the water and allows
air bubbles to escape. The wash temperature isn't critical, just
reasonable.
