Besides the intellectual property problems of pulling a copy from the
FED shades, I have to think that making conical shades from flat
materials would be less work. You could manually cut out a pair of
shades (my original idea), or if you want to go into production you
could get a die made, or to avoid that expense have the shades laser
cut from sheet material. Assembly is simply rolling the sheet into a
cone, gluing and clamping. The shades could be shipped flat to avoid
damage in transit.
If someone would measure their shades I'll make a pattern and put it
on my web page (and make a couple of shades to test).
