[MF3D.FORUM:724] Stereo Dinner THIS Friday

Two years ago, we accidentally made history.

At the NSA convention in Richmond, Virginia, a handful of strangers
fell together for dinner. I had never met any of them before that
day. Today, you'll recognize many of the names: Boris Starosta,
George Themelis, Brenda Knowlan, Alexander Klein, John Baird. And a
wild man named Tom Kidd kept buying pitchers of beer. We shared
stories, we passed slides around. Before long the waitresses and
other patrons were joining in the fun, too.

We must have been there about five hours, because we missed the
midnight showing of "Dial M for Murder"! Pat and I stumbled home,
partly drunk and partly hopped up on the 3D spirit. We had four
countries attending! At http://www.deering.org/nsa.html you can see
George and Boris getting silly.

It was a *very* special night. And as soon as I got back to New
York, I started wishing I could do it more often. And that's how the
3rd Friday Stereo Dinner in Manhattan was born, two years ago.

So drop by after work and join us! Bring along some stereo pictures
to share if you like. I've got some slides I'm proud of, and I'll
bet you have some nice photos, too. The comradery and pleasant
conversations are what makes it a special treat. Why not stop by?

We always meet on the third Friday of every month at La Cocina, at
85th and Broadway. They make excellent Mexican food; the best,
really. It's nicely decorated upstairs and down, and not at all
expensive. There are several good, big meals on the menu for under
ten bucks. Even though it's a busy season, we often get a section to
ourselves, so we have some room to spread out. The hostess will
cheerfully point us out. After two years, they treat us like
regulars.

Join us Friday, June 16, at La Cocina, 217 West 85th Street, just off
Broadway. We'll be there starting at 6:30 pm, and we stay until 9 pm
or later. Come and go when you like.

PS: There's more info and a map at
http://www.deering.org/stereodinner.html. And just to make it clear,
there is no membership, no speeches, and no expectations. It's just
a fun time, open to all.
