  I think Don opened the tape
on the box with a knife and cut
the top slide. So a sleeve wouldn't
have helped there.

  Some of us have snug slots in
our viewers and so thicker slides
(like a sleeve over the mount)
would make them unviewable.

  But a single layer of plastic
inside the mount (on the emulsion
side of the slide) wouldn't cause
problems for me.

  If I had a mind to do that type
I would buy some 4x6 photo album
pages (archival type) and cut out
a 60x125mm rectangle and tape it
to the back of the mount (inside)
before closing it up.
