If there's any chance of the ink bleeding
onto fingers then I'd want to avoid black.
18% grey (like a Kodak Grey card) would be
my second preference. It would still allow you
to write with a pen on any area you choose.
On my own slides I put the title, date and
film used on the front. On the rear I put
boring technical information that I might want
to know later.
For a non-black mount it would be best if
both front and back were coloured (IMO). I
use up a lot of that silver tape, inside mounts,
to keep light from shining through the mounts
(usually on slides with darker scenes).
