Assuming the flash fired each time
your underexposed shots might be from
the flash sync of the camera being off.
Tom mentioned how to check it.
I can't see how the flash can be
blamed for overexposures though. Unless
there is something wrong with the
auto mode on it.
If your shutter was sticking open
then you would likely get overexposure
from ambient light.
