One must always remember that one's realtor is not one's
friend, except to the extent the law requires.  They will
look for a quick sale.

The law is very fair.  It is just as illegal for a pauper or 
a king to live under a bridge.  How about one of these
ubiquitous storage rental sites plus an apartment?  
That's what we did when we moved to a new area and 
couldn't find a suitable place quickly enough.  It ain't
wonderful but it works.
