six inch FL light

I just remembered.

The last time I was in Home Depot I noticed that they were selling battery
powered 6-inch flourescent lights for eight dollars!  I have several which
I bought in Chinatown for $10 each, and they are awful nice for
illuminating MF viewers.

They operate on four AA batteries, which seem to last forever.  Obviously
not as tasty as the cabin light panel, but okay I think for a viewer with a
diffuser.

I like the quality of the light, but it is a tad bluish.  And if it were a
perfect world, the tube would be a bit longer to illuminate the far edges
better.  But I've never had any complaints.

Really cheap, and works well.  You might build one into a small box to
compliment your MF viewer, or just use it as is.
