Exactly.  When he asks about keeping the lens focus in synch, he is tacitly
admitting he has never refocussed a stereo lens.  And that part is child's
play compared to the rest of the project.

I just don't have the heart to tell him he's about to ruin two perfectly
good cameras. (His cost: $140.)  I did urge him to start slow before he
took on such a big project.  His response was that he would write with
further questions.

(I once got a gallon zip-lock bag from a guy who had wanted to make a
siamese stereo camera.  The bag contained a pair of Pentax K1000's, both
completely stripped of all parts.  The fellow had clumsily chopped them
both in half.  All the teeny little screws, mirrors, lenses and parts were
just dumped in with the bodies.  I swear I wept when I saw how he tortured
those two cameras.)
