Cyanoacrylate vs. household cement

"A properly done superglue/cyanoacrylate repair is nearly invisible, and
you can't even find the seam with a fingernail crossing the area."

If I recall correctly, someone on P3D (Mike Watters?, of twin-XA fame) 
worried that cyanoacrylate would have a deleterious affect on the opics.  
The person suggested using household cement (Duco, for instance) instead,
if possible.

Is this correct?
