Re: Market for MF slides

Materials cost about>$20 CDN per roll (film, processing, mounts,>silver tape). 4X5 dupe film is a very practical option. Depending on how you crop, it is at least possible to get two sets of MF stereo pairs on a single sheet. Coming up with a special film holder mask shouldn't be too hard. In camera duping works for still life shots, but perhaps only if your camera is fine tuned enough to have a perfectly exposed image. I hate to admit it, but I still lose far too many shots from erratic shutters, bad focus and light leaks. Perhaps the market may be in duping MF stereo slides instead of selling them!I have been playing with duping for the last 4 months and Yes you can dup MF, but you have to use 70mm Kodak 5071 dup film. I have a Bowen set up with a 70mm back onto a Hass with a old Hass bellow and using a 90mm APO enlarger lens. If you want the sharpest image, you just have to use a APO lens. I also found out that it does not make a bean of a difference if you use strobe or tungsten for the contrast, but the strobe will give you a sharper image. To make a Bowen to work with a Hass, all you have to do is turn the bracket, for the bellow, around backward. You can see my Bowen set up at: http://members.aol.com/lngfoto/SlideDup/Boside.jpg If anyone, want one of these Bowen, I am selling my extras for $300.00 each, with cheap or without cheap lens. That how I got them, and they are design for 35mm dups, but you can use a copy stand over the base of the Bowen duplicator. Using the Bowen as the power source, it has the most power of all the duplicator, you can shoot it at f/32+ or shoot it at f/8 at 1:1. You can still get it new or buy parts at Calumet, it is the model 35c. LesTer
