I thought about trying to re-engineer the pair of Lubitels so the film ran
horizontally, but I decided against it.

I like getting 12 pairs.  I also like being able to slide the film strips
into my viewer to preview the pair before I cut and mount.  I assume you
would need pentaprisms to view uncut Sputnik slides.
