I have experienced very difficult advance at the end of a
roll and it was due to the film being slightly misaligned
on the take-up spool. The film was not loaded perfectly
straight onto the take-up spool and upon winding, it wanted
to spiral off to the side--which it could not do due to
the sides of the film spool. I could tell that this had
happened when I removed the roll because one side of the
film/paper had been wrinkled slightly as it was forced
against the side of the spool.
