[MF3D.FORUM:1565] Stereo Camera Builders - Attention!

Those who build or are interested in building stereo cameras might be
interested in a lens that Calumet has on sale. It is a view camera lens of
210mm, called Caltar II-E 210mm f/6.8 with a Copal 1 shutter. It is normally
$430, selling now for $320.

What is the advantage of this lens and what can it be used for?

This lens is made to cover a 5x7 negative, but is commonly used on a 4x5
camera as a slightly long normal lens (equivalent to about 100mm on a
6cmx6cm camera or 60mm on a 35mm camera). A pair of them would work well for
portraits on a 5x7 camera or even possibly on a 4x5 camera (although you
couldn't get them closer than about 2-7/8 inches). I am going to use them on
a pair of 4x5 cameras. (I already have a pair of 4x5 cameras with 120mm
lenses (slightly wide)).

The reason I mention this is that I will probably be ordering a pair within
the next week and if anyone else wants a pair we could buy them together,
thereby increasing the probability of getting lenses that are closely
matched. Let me know if this interests you or if you have questions about
building large format stereo cameras.
