The new Scasnmaker 4 from Microtek has all the same features as the Scanmaker
5, only real difference that the resolution is less: 600x1200dpi. has internal
scanning for transp. and slides. But this scanner only costs around 650 bucks.
That's about half of other 600x1200 dpi scanners! And you can do prints on its
flatbed. If only it had higher resolution for 35mm you would be all set.
And you can do 6x17 on this as well.! NUP to 8x10 trasnaprencies.
Go to the www. microtek.com site for info.
In early September I am going to attend the PhotoSHow in D.C. Probably will
give some feedback to you pan folks afterwards.
Well, bought the Epson 3000 for less than halkf what it cost new; with ink
and RIP. Amazing printer! It can panoramics of 17x44. Haven't tried that yet,
but will as soon as I get my ideal 6x17 scanner. The Minolta Dimage cannot do
anything bigger than 6x9, and can't do prints.
For scanner sites try also:
www.microtek.com
www.aht.com fo 42-bit scanners for around 4000 bucks.
www.scitex.com (more pricey Microlumina camera, that can scan even 3-D
objects; not sure about price, I guess about $7000; too much for me too). But
that is a digital scanner AND digital camera at once.
Anyway, we like to dream.
www.epson.com
etc.
