I wonder about this from another angle: My wife and I plan to open a
gallery dedicated to panoramic photography sometime next spring. In
addition to selling prints in the gallery and at the gallery Web site,
we'll market prints to the architectural/contract furniture/interior
design market. I've been a marketer for 30 years and my wife is
experienced in sales of furniture to the design community.

Our plan is to represent a few photographers (including moi, of course),
with the work in the gallery on consignment and a combined portfolio on
the Web and in a catalog for print-to-order sales. We will be
responsible for all marketing costs, the photogs will be responsible for
printing/framing. I have a few questions:

What's a fair percentage for the gallery for consignment print sales?

What's a fair percentage for the gallery for print-to-order sales?

How should gallery and online print sales be priced?

How should printing method (ordinary vs. archival) impact selling
prices?

Any experience or opinions list members wish to share on these topics
will be welcome.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
