Hello all, I'm new to this list. I'm writing to ask you if you've
realized there is an entire world out there needing your images?
I'm talking about the planetarium dome.
My company provides panoramas and "all-skies" to
planetaria worldwide. The dome is a perfect screen for
360 degree images. "All-Skies" are fish-eye type images
that cover the entire dome.
I use special software called "Digidome" that compensates
for the curvature of the dome as well as the radius and projector
configurations. Most of my source images are either photographed
by myself and pieced together in photoshop, or Public Access
NASA images that I just crop as a circle and render as an "all-sky."
My software can work from either panorama source images
or from circular ones.
Looking at some of the "pans" as we call them in the planetarium
business on your web sites I can't help but imagine how beautiful
they would be projected on a 60 foot dome.
I have two questions: Is there anyone interested in providing
for a low cost their panoramas for planetarium shows? Keep in
mind I work with lots of non-profit organizations, educational
facilities. And second, where can I get my hands on a used
slitscan or rotational 360 degree camera??
All my images must be a complete 360 degrees, and so some
images are not suitable but if anyone out there has some, please
contact me at lmimages@xxxxxxxx
I'm especially interested in nature and cities.
Thanks so much.
