Yes but.....

There is a very clear difference between programmers and photographers.
The former to a great extent use intellectual powers to achieve their
goals (I know that they must have computers and reference material, etc)
while the latter require much expensive hardware which breaks and wears
out and also large amounts of exceedingly expensive materials,
transport, etc. The other difference is that photographers can't
control the weather, light, activities of other humans and other
species, etc.

So not really a very apt comparison I am afraid. What both groups do
need aplenty is patience - much of which is spent suffering fools. If
programmers and photographers were never paid there would of course be
some programs and photos, but not of the standard achieved by paying for
them. The real problem is that real people need food, drink, clothes,
housing, transport, other people, etc just to survive.
