Re: OT: SUPER DISKS ETC

I agree with you about CD_ROMs in many ways. However I have had
problems in sending people scans on CD. I have been using an HP 7200 to
burn disks, and the software that comes with the writer. It seems that
there are compatabilty problems with some older drives and maybe also
with the format written to the disk. Three programs come with the
writer.

It seems that Adaptec CD Creator is OK on most drive, but CD Writer is
not. Probably the best solution is to make the data on your hard drive
and then do a CD copy on to the CD.

The biggest reading problem seems to be on Macs. This seems to be
because most people have a switch in set up incorrectly set (because
they don't like PCs) which allows Macs to understand PC-written CD's.
Once set there is no problem.

Another tip this time for PC owners. There is a very useful program
called Transmac which can be found below. It allows PCs to read lots of
Mac formatted disks.

Computer babble I know, but certainly on-topic if you want to use a CD
writer to send images to people with PC-Mac or Mac-PC.
