way to go! you have solved the tomiyama interchangeable lens limitations. you
are quibbling about which 6x17 camera is best when fuji was wondering in the years before 1983 if they could even sell em. usa fuji at first didn't stock the camera except for special order. then we have a pan stock agent advising that more of their pan photogs used v-pans more than fuji 617. what is left out is hanchette was sharing booth at javitts center photo show, nyc, with said agent. logically, who called for survey of how many  and which one which. even if they changed horses midstream. hand camera and tripod  camera in 6x17 are really two categories. if v-pan sold more cameras than fuji in pan category the real  thing is that we should congratulate fuji for hanging in there in view of such a strong competitor. logically, shouldn't v-pan  have added a group of their own name brand 120 films to match camera sales. simon wonders! fuji evolved theirs into a second model, ya know. the fuji people ain't worried about v-pan or x-pan because hasselblad loaned them their camera's name for present test marketing. simon nathan

Dear Pan group.

I'd like to add that Art-Panorama also makes a 6x17
interchangeeable back
for 4"x5" cameras. I bought one several years ago and
enjoyed it, even though
it was limited to lenses up to about 150mm before it
vignetted.  As my photo-
graphy grew and the need for longer lenses dictated I had
the 4x5 adaptor
plate converted to a 5"x7".  I now use it on a 5x7 Sinar
with a wider range
of focal lengths.

It is probably better to make your own V-pan using a 5x7
camera to which you
attach a Navy-Torpedo or a Burke & James Royal panoram 6x17
rollfilm back.
I've heard that the V-pans are not as refined as they ought
to be.
