At f 45 the Fuji 617 will have things sharp as close as two meters.  I've 
also stopped the lens down to f 64 (not marked, but just rotate to about 
where you'd expect it to be) and moved the infinity point out to where f 64 
would be if it was marked, and  thus gotten just a little more depth of 
field.  I was out in the wilds with no tape measure . . . but there was 
greater depth of field when I compared the photos later.  I also tried f 128, 
but then the whole image goes soft, so forget that.
