Andy
I agree, not all lenses are created equal from the start. From reports
I got from Noblex users, the fixed lens in a noblex is one of the sharpest
lenses made. I was told that although the lens does not have the Carl Zeiss
name on it, it is in fact made by them. (I am not positive this is true) I
have seen Noblex shots, and would concur they are very sharp, right up there
with the Mamiya 7 rangefinder, lenses, which are touted as the top of the
heap for MF.
I strongly considered the Noblex, however, the lack of interchangeable
lenses and a fixed aspect ratio is what steered my to Seitz. But the
Noblex is one amazing camera... the beauty over 6x17 flat field cameras is
the lens only utilizing its sweet spot over the entire film area... I think
if and when they come out with interchangeable lenses, even if the format
stays fixed, it will be reduce sales drastically to Fuji Linhof and Art Pan
6x17's and also serious contender to rotational cameras.
