Bill - Don't be sorry - This list is about Pan photography, and 
getting your camera to work well is part of it. I think you should 
ask Peter Seitz for a detailed procedure on how to measure the focal 
length.The biggest problem is the fact that English is a second 
language for them, which is probably why answers from Seitz are 
short. They must have a system for doing it.  Or you should find 
someone with an optical bench and have them do it. Maybe Professional 
camera repair on 47th street in NYC can do it (If they are still 
there). Call the various camera repair places and find someone with 
the knowledge and equipment. Another place to try might be the 
physics department of a local university. Also, ask Mr seitz to 
recommend others with 220 vr's who are using mamiya lenses to share 
their info. If Charles doesn't want to hear you solve your pan camera
