I believe that switch is actually around the viewfinder (not the range
finder). It's a parallax correction switch. It VERY slightly alters the
up/down aim of the viewfinder to correct for the fact that the view finder is
above the lense. At least that's the idea presented in the owners book. I've
had a Revere for almost 20 years and have never bothered to put it on a
tripod, aim at a suitable target and play with the switch to see if it rally
makes a difference. But I try to remember to set the switch correctly when
I'm using the camera anyway.
Of all the 'regular' 5-perf stereo cameras I own, the Revere is my favorite.
