The disparities diminish, but I dont believe that the depth percept
diminishes. A properly-working visual system would scale the disparities
by the viewing angle to re-create the actual depth present in the scene
(except when you're 90 degrees off-axis, where the information just ain't
there). Otherwise the whole world would appear to distort as you rotated
your head.
