I have a Nord and it's OK, but I don't believe it has the quality
of a TDC, so I'm a little surprised at the NSA cost. I've seen them
advertised from $150-250 in the past, although I don't know what kind of
shape they were in. I don't have any focus mismatch that is outside
the adjustment range. My impression of the Nord is that it is a
medium-grade stereo projector but quite functional. I would trade it
for a TDC in working shape. It has the shorter (4-inch?) lenses that
allow a nice projected image size in a room in a house. I really haven't
used it much, even though it's my only stereo projector, as it's something
of a pain for me to drag everything out to project slides, and unless you
have a group of people interested in a stereo slide presentation, it's
far superior to simply use a slide viewer.
My projector is in the original cardboard box and has instructions.
If anyone wants a photocopy of the instructions, just email me
with their snailmail address. It's just a sheet or two and I'll
be glad to send a copy to you.
Since I'm here, I might as well mention that I had a lenticular
silver screen originally, but found that the vertical ridges
gave a definite "pixel-like" graininess to the image, as if
it were being seen on a computer monitor with vertical stripe
pixels. I found it annoying, and obtained a "flat" silver screen,
(these all have small fibers that provide some dispersion anyway).
Although there is some nonuniformity of light off the screen in
any one direction, due to the curves in the screen as it hangs,
I find it much more pleasing to use. I don't have a wide viewing
audience anyway.
I'm not exactly an expert on stereo projectors, I just happen to have
a Nord, so take the above comments with a grain of salt.
