Re viewing stereograms
For viewing random dot stereograms in a stereoscope or by projection it
would seem to be better to use the original twin image versions as
produced by Bela Julez and earlier by a Russian and now it would seem by a
Brit in 1919 acording to the article in stereo world July/August. However
it can be done with SIRDS and I have seen Colin Clays results already
mentioned projected at a Midland group meeting of the British stereoscopic
society. Personaly I have made a straight forward photographic copy of
Renne Magrittes painting "Golconda" which has bowler hatted men raining
down on some buildings . This is not a random dot but the figures do show
"Wallpaper" effect stereo and I have mounted the single photograph so that
it can be placed in a Holmes viewer so that half the image is seen by each
eye . This works for me although I can free view anyway but I have entered
it in a print folio for some members who cannot .
