Labels on stereo slides

I've never applied Avery or other brands of self-adhesive labels to
slide mounts.  But I have used them in similar applications, and have
noticed that after a number of years they sometimes become discolored
or else perhaps the adhesive breaks down and the label begins to fall
off.
