You've done a lot of good work gathering the latest Ricoh info. It's been a
year since I did my Ricoh setup and I could tell that Ricoh was in the middle
of changing its' remote thought process. They used to have all of the
cameras with remote elect. sockets, then when I was buying the Ultra-Zoom was
the lowest priced one, but the expensive ones all had the socket. Now from
what you say this may all end, just when we need it the most :-(
You are right about feeding you a line about other cable releases. I merely
use Radio Shack sub-mini mono plugs and wire and a small momentary
pushbutton. About $3 material cost. I called Ricoh when doing this and they
really didn't know much about how their socket is wired. I still wonder if
it is a stereo socket (separate focus and shutter switches) or just mono as I
used it. When I push the button it goes into focus and shutter
automatically.
