Series 5 lens ring stuck on Kodak Stereo

Thanks to everyone who suggested ideas on how to unstick a series 5 filter retaining ring on my
Kodak Stereo. Both rings appear to have been in place for something like 40 years and would not
budge.
Most solutions offered used ice to mechanically loosen the ring - I liked the idea but
was not so sure about the problems associated with the ice melting and water getting a little
too close to the lens mount for comfort. What I did come up with was based on the same
principle.
A British company called Electrolube makes a spray freeze product for the electronics
industry. I have used it many times for determining thermal problems in electronic components
but found it particularly useful in this case. By shielding the lens and wrapping the lens
barrel with cloth I could then selectively freeze sections of the knurled section of the barrel
without damaging anything else. After 5 squirts of spray freeze the outer section of the lens
barrel was white cold. A gentle turn of the retaining ring was all that was required - all is
joy.
I've asked Dalia to send out a set of series 5 UV filters - now that I have something to
retain them.
