VM vs REALIST

I find this a very interesting topic because I feel like the odd man
out. Y'see, I actually ENJOY viewing VM images in 5X magnification rather
than in the larger 8X magnification offered by the Model D (mind you, I use
a really nice 5X viewer like the Model E...and, ahem...the Model 10). I
even enjoy this more than viewing Realist images in my beautiful (Dr.T) Red
Button!

I, unlike the majority, appreciate small concetrated images which hold
my attention longer than larger 'WOW'-sized 3D images. I am the same when
it comes to 2D photography. I prefer my 4X5" contact prints to my 8X10"
contact prints and am always drawn to the smallest prints in an exhibition.
I remember walking into a huge Brice Marden exhibit (a post-minimalist
painter currently making paintings and prints with long willow branches as
a drawing tool), with HUGE paintings almost 14" high, and I walked right
across the room to this wonderful little drawing approximately 3X5"!

I enjoy sticking my face right into something and hunting for
microcosmic worlds. I like to be aware of the frame of an image (which for
me IS photography). I like how the small image withholds its secrets from
you till you have the patience to learn them.

Call me a freak if you want. I don't care......snif.

                                                        ;-) jamie.

P.S. Lincoln and I look forward to your participation in our VM chip swap!
