Bob..the first requirement is a camera that can focus close enough to
fill the frame with the slide. This usually means a "macro" lens or a
normal lens with extenstion tube or bellows on a SLR that allows you
to view the result.
There are some all in one tube like extension tubes with lens built
in called
slide copiers that work quite well for occassional work. You put in
slide and aim them at blue sky..they are about f/16 so need strong
light.
Porters in Cedar Rapids Iowa might have these in their catalog.
Spiratone was the once hallowed ground for gadgets and Porters is sort
of the newbee.
(for the last 20 years!)
Norman Rochschild wrote a book on slide copying that may be found in
used book stores. He was once a columnist of Popular Photography and
got there from active camera club work in NYC Miniature Camera Club.
He died last year. BobH
