Let me make sure I know what you want to do: you want to transfer the 
computer images onto 35mm film?  (I'm confused by "35mm reversal" and 
that you want to mount them in a VM reel-type format...)

If that's the case, I think any size you want the computer file to be is 
ok.  I've imaged 640x480 and 1024x7?? onto 35mm film before; since the 
imaging machines can put down quite a few "pixels" onto the film, it 
should be able to jam any "normal-sized" graphics file onto the film.
(Does this make sense??)

The only thing you might want to watch for is that if you want to fill 
the 35mm frame entirely, to make the computer file a size with the same 
aspect ratio.
