I have been using for a few years a plastic polish put out by McGuires (I 
think).  I got it at an automotive supply house.  I find it is great stuff to 
have on hand for buffing out fine scratches in almost every plastic thing I have 
around.  It takes a while, but the results are great, maybe a more permanent fix 
than candle wax.  I wouldn't be without it or a similar product.  You do have to 
apply a bit of pressure, though, and I'm not sure how sturdily mounted those 
viewfinders are, but a q-tip and a bit of patience should work.
